If you have recently set up your fax machine or are experiencing issues with sending or receiving faxes, the HP Fax Test Service is a great tool to confirm that your fax is working properly. Follow these steps to use the service effectively:


1. Send a test fax: To confirm that your fax machine is working, send a one-page black and white text fax to 1-888-HPFaxme (1-888-473-2963). Within five minutes, you should receive a return confirmation fax. This will verify that you can both send and receive faxes.


2. Check your fax header: Make sure that your full 10-digit fax number is included in the fax header. This number is used by the service to send the confirmation fax. Ensure that the fax number matches the phone line connected to the fax machine.


3. Remove conflicting phone line services: Services like voice mail, call waiting, and caller ID can interfere with fax communication. Dialing *82 before the HP Fax Test Service number can unblock Caller ID in most areas. Contact your telephone company if these services are causing issues.


4. Run a fax test: Print a fax test report from your printer control panel to identify any issues with the printer, phone line connection, or fax settings. Review the report for any failed tests and follow the instructions provided.
